Faze

Award-wining recording artist

Faze is an award-winning musician and actor who has been writing songs and singing since 1994, when he won the DBN Karaoke Contest. Along with BlackFace Naija and 2face Idibia, he was a member of the defunct Nigerian hip hop group Plantashun Boyz.

Originality, his third album, went platinum in its first month of release. He is the first Nigerian artist to have three platinum albums in a row.

Faze is a Lead Judge on Season 3 of Battle of the Sounds, and he is a judge for the second year in a row.

Award-winning Sound Engineer

Indomix is a Nigerian mix and mastering engineer who has worked with the likes of Faze, 2face, Sound Sultan, Vector, Terry G, Dj Neptune, Davido, MC Galaxy, and Reminisce. He claims to have worked with 75% of the industry.

Indomix is a judge at Battle of the Sounds for the third year in a row.

GT da Guitarman

Award-wining recording artist

GT da Guitarman, real name Gbemiro Tokunbo, was born in 1984 in London, UK, and is unquestionably one of Nigeria’s best vocal artists. His family returned to Nigeria in 1986.

After a brief stint as one of Storm Records’ flagship artists, GT released his critically acclaimed debut album on his own label in 2012 and has remained relevant in the industry since then.

Lafup

Entertainment Producer, Comedian

Lafup is a Nigerian actor and comedian who rose to prominence after appearing on shows such as Standup Nigeria and hosting Star Trek. The Trek was a big break for him, and Maltina Dance All undoubtedly introduced him to the big screen and Africa in general.

Lafup has gone on to produce other TV shows and, most recently, the First Food Comedy Festival in Nigeria.

Though Lafup has hosted previous Battle of the Sounds events, he will be serving as a Judge for the second time this year.

K-Peace

Nigerian Idol Winner and Music Artist

K-Peace, who appeared on the fifth season of Nigerian Idols, performed pop, rap, and R&B songs in the style of Fuji and quickly became a fan favorite, particularly after a peculiar rendition of John Legend’s “All of Me.” Fuji R&B is the name he gives to his fusion of R&B and Fuji.

He won the competition and a record deal worth 7.5 million naira.

For the third year in a row, K-Peace will serve as a judge at Battle of the Sounds.

SammyJay

Hip-hop Head and Music Enthusiast

SammyJay Tha Grandmaster, also known as Jay Tha Forte, is a distinct and timeless hip-hop head, a record executive, a head hunter, an artist, and a repertoire.

SammyJay was a pioneer of hip hop in Nigeria. As an OAP at OGBC and Rythym FM, he promoted strictly indigenous rap projects. He currently moderates several virtual rap communities outside of Nigeria.

From the 1990s to the present, he has worked with world-class music and record producers, as well as an endless list of underground artists, many of whom are now mainstream global stars.

Sammy-J is a Judge at Battle of the Sounds for the 3rd year running.

DRE STICKS

Music Artist and Producer

Dre-sticks is a professional singer, songwriter, music producer, studio sound/mix engineer, and entertainment entrepreneur who rose to prominence with his song “Baba Rere.” He has collaborated with Mavin Records, Yemi Alade, Skales, K1 de Ultimate, Mike Abdul, and many more.

His music is rich and R&B/Hiphop-based, with elements of soul, jazz, fuji, hi-life, and other music genres infused.

This year’s Battle of the Sounds will feature Dresticks as a guest judge.
